The dutch government decided with the VINEX-Program to built ca.750.000
apartments between 1995 and 2015. These newly invented "compact cities"
are supposed to lower the traffic and to avoid unnecessary mobility. To
achieve this aim spots were chosen which strategically were situated
close to existing city centres and could be connected easily to
existing road infrastructure. Another aspect was the social structure
of these artificial cities. Key percentages for the amount of private
houses as well as rental dwellings for different prices were fixed for
the whole country.
