Welcome to ArchEX - architecture on site. We are a small agency, organising architecture walks and study trips in different cities in the Netherlands, Germany and other European countries. We are convinced that built spaces can be experienced the best by visiting them in reality. And we think that a thorough explanation helps to understand and "read" the qualities of a city, a space or a building.

We, skilled and enthusiastic guides of ArchEX, are all architects, urban designers, planners or sociologists ourselves. During our walks we tell about the background and history of the site, and explain the architecture of the visited building with pleasure.

European architecture is reinventing itself constantly, as spacial and economical conditions tend to change continuously. Countries like the Netherlands, for example, are facing a massive demand on new housing, producing large scale developments combined with smart small-scale solutions. Cities like Amsterdam and Rotterdam, but also other European cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Zurich or Copenhagen (just to mention a few) have their own dynamic and develop local strategies in urban planning and architecture. Industrial agglomerations such as the Ruhr area are dealing with huge restructuring processes on both provincial and city level, combining local heritage and identity with contemporary architecture approaches.

Our clients are architects, developers, housing corporations, investors, municipalities, manufacturers, non-profit organisations, planning departments and other people interested in architecture and the built environment. With this website we would like to offer an overview of architecture and urban planning in Europe, the Netherlands and Germany, as a first introduction .... before your first visit.
